The Galaxians Tradition Continues …

Galaxy started the ACC season 2011 aiming for their 2nd ACC championship victory in a row, in Glendale heights on May 8th with a winning note, wrapping up an easy 69-run win over a AMSA outfit that had no answer to the pace battery of Naser, Meezan and Kashif, who finished as the pick of the bowlers with 4 for 24 of 6 overs. AMSA had put in a spirited display in the field to keep Galaxy to 192/4( adjusted for 2 overs due to slow over rate)  from 30 overs.

With Naser and Kashif steaming in with the new ball, AMSA openers had every reason to be nervous but they quickly shed their early jitters and scored at decent pace until the eight over of the innings from kashif who claimed 3 quick wickets in 4 balls with the price scalp of Saqib and Alay. AMSA star batsman Mazhar Tabrezi( 36 /34 balls) did his best to overcome the setback but the revival was short-lived, as one full and slower from Meezan (2x13) disturbed his off stump.

It had been a different story for AMSA when they were in the field as some disciplined bowling from the seamers got the price scalp of Asif on the second ball of the innings. Safder provided the bulk of the runs at the top of the order with a well-paced unbeaten 75, while Naser guided their charge with a quick 33. After a quiet start to his innings Safder started to strike the ball with ominous force, lifting Abid into the mid-on and then thru midwicket for a 6 and a four. Shoeb came and went in quick succession but gave the innings some oomph while at the crease, clearing the boundary over mid-on for a six. Zafar and Safder remained unbeaten to guide Galaxy to a total which, proved far too much for a AMSA line-up with precious little experience of facing Galaxians bowling.
