Magnificient Uzair Ali (63) pulled Villa Park to another big win as they defeat Anjuman by 60 runs |
On a very hot July 9th afternoon Villa Park faced the new and threatening Anjuman on the fast Carol Stream Ground. Villa Park still not complete now missing ex-captain Haris Imtiaz and the man of the match of last two games Hassan Bakhshi won the toss and elected to bat first. Zeyad Imtiaz (32) and Navaid Ali (0) started the innings for VPCC. Navaid Ali was clean bowled by Sabir Patel (1) on the second ball of the game. Arif Hockla (17) now joined Zeyad to pick up the innings. Just when runs were coming and a partnership was blossoming Javid Patel (1) took the wicket of Arif. Skipper Uzair Ali (63) knew that with Haris & Hassan not playing today he have to step up and play a captains innings, and that’s exactly what he did. Uzair’s innings of 63 which of 47 balls which included 4 fours and 2 sixes was a treat to watch. He took control of the game by milking all the bowlers who came his way. During this time Uzair lost his partners; Zeyad, Mujtaba Baqir (4), Arsalan Ali (8), Saad Ali (2), and Furqan Qureshi (3) but he knew that his wicket was the key to VPCC’s success today. But as everything comes to an end Uzair was eventually bowled by Sufyan Dukanwala (3) when VPCC’s score was 164. Now with no.9 and no.10 batsmen Hassan Baqir (25*) and Ahmad Bakhshi (17*) at the crease Anjuman thought that it will be an easy clean up now, or so they thought. Both these batsmen’s played a jam of an innings which was also the highest run partnership of the innings included 5 fours and 1 six. VPCC ended their innings with 208 runs on the board with the loss of 8 wickets.
Anjuman who has a decent batting lineup took the field with Ahmad Bakhshi (4) and Hassan Baqir (1) opening the attack for VPCC. It was history repeating itself when Ahmad for rid of Javid Patel (0) on the second ball of the innings. Ahmad’s next victim was Anis Varu (24), due to the extreme hot weather Ahmed was replaced by Muhammad Ahmed (1) who right away got rid of Sufyan Dukanwala (3), and from the other end Hassan Baqir got the pricy wicket of Abdul Behlim (9). Now with 4-46 and Ayaz Patel (30) with Ikram Patel (20) on the crease, Uzair called the ever dangerous Furqan Qureshi (3) who immediately got rid of both of these batsmen. Now with the tail exposed Uzair went for the kill by bringing back Ahmad Bakhshi along with Zeyad Imtiaz (1) who finished up Anjuman’s innings at 148.
Villa Park won the game by 60 runs and Uzair Ali was announced man of the Match for his match saving innings.
