|NIGHT: Boom Boom Zeyad Imtiaz (86 runs & 2 wkts) has the final roar as Villa Park tamed Lions to a 29 runs defeat|
Villa Park faced Lions Cricket Club for their second night game. Villa Park won the toss and elected to bat first against a well known attack of Lions. Waseem Chaudry (1) leading wicket taker this year started the attack from Lions along with Moiez Khan. Zeyad Imtiaz (86) opened the innings with Arif Hockla (2). Zeyad showed his intentions right away when he started to hit the ball all over the park, but on the other end Arif was bowled by Moiez, Mujtaba Baqir (13) now joined the inexorable Zeyad. Just when the partnership was building Waseem got rid of Mujtaba and then the skipper Fawad Agha (35) came to stable the innings. Both batsmen build a 100 runs partnership during which Zeyad got injurd and Arif was sent as a runner. Lions camp was dishearten by this partnership, just when VPCC was looking to achieve a huge target a miscommunication occurred on the pitch between Fawad and Arif (Zeyad’s runner) which got Fawad run out. Now Haris Imtiaz (23) joined his tired but determined brother who was still looking to trash these tired Lions. But the luck was with Lions and with another wrong call between Haris and Arif (Zeyad’s runner) resulted in another run out but this time it was the Boom Boom Zeyad who played a Jam of an innings. Villa Park scored 182 in 20 overs.
This was never an easy target to chase but Mohsin Bhally (27) and Kashif Ahmed (7) started the innings for Lions, Haris Imtiaz (1) and Ahmad Bakhshi (2) opened the attack from Villa Pak. Right from the start both batsmen started to slog the ball and the reason was the run rate of 9.10. Once again Ahmad got rid of both opening batsmen, now with Anand Kumar (25) and Mohammed Khaled (10) on the crease things were getting tight for VPCC once again bowlers were leaking runs which was hurting VPCC. VPCC desperately needed some wickets along with some tight overs. Zeyad Imtiaz (2) and Furqan Qureshi (1) delivered just what VPCC needed Zeyad quickly got rid of Anand and Mohammed, while Furqan trapped the dangerous Ayaz Patel (0) in his crease so bad that the only place he found to hit the ball was Arsalan Ali’s safe hands. Waseem Chaudry (3) came to bat with Moiez Khan (24) but a direct throw over the wicket from Furqan Qureshi ended the misery for Waseem. Fahad Faridi (40) the skipper came to bat but at this time the run rate was way over 12 runs per over. Fawad Agha (1) along with Haris finished the bowling allotted overs. Villa Park won the match by 29 runs. One should mention three outstanding catches from Arif Hockla which help Villa Park achieve this victory.
Once again Zeyad Imtiaz was announced Man of the Match for his match winning performance with both bat and ball. Villa Park qualified for the quarter finals; they are waiting for their opponent from group B.
