Jaguars chased 220 to defeat Villa Park CC

On August 3rd 2008, a very tired Villa Park faced resurging Jaguars in Bolingbrook 1. Villa Park CC was playing their 3rd game in 2 days and 4th in 4 days. VPCC lost the toss and was put in to bat by Jaguars. Villa Park had an early hick-up when in-form Arsalan (9) was bowled by dangerous Sharat Katipally (1). But it was all smooth sailing from there, as Bashir Iqbal (86) illustrated his dominant batting with smashing shots all around the field. Haris (26) and Zeyad (17) supported him well to keep momentum going for Villa Park. But at the score of 160 Narahari Govula (1) struck gold to get rid of Bashir Iqbal. Fawad Agha (39*) took the reins from there and made sure that VPCC does not fold after Bashir show. Fawad with Kamran (9) took the score to very respectable 220 in 30 overs.

Jaguars CC started the chase with Shwetal Mehta (71) and Gaurav Vaid (13) to face the pedestrian bowling effort from Villa Park. Both batsmen pondered the lethargic endeavor which resulted in run rate over 12 runs an over to almost over 10 overs. With Jaguars not reluctant to show their might with the bat, which resulted in ball traveling outside the boundary for 27 times for 4s and 6s. In the middle VPCC tried to come back with few quick wickets but Tinu Harshavats (36) resilience in the middle and Bhushan Naik (15*) and Sharath Katipally (26) masterful partnership completed the spirited chase for Jaguars.

This reschedule game turned out to be the nightmare for Villa Park not only because of the outcome of the match but also experiencing some eventful yelling and protesting during the game. All in all Jaguars batted extraordinary and deserve to win this contest.
