New era begins with a win for Villa Park |
After the depressing last few weeks Villa Park took the field under the new captain (Uzair Ali). Stallions won the toss and elected to bat in relatively fine afternoon. VPCC opened the attacked with A. Bakhshi (0) and Muhammad Ahmed (1). Both bowled with more control and rhythm, but once again fielding let the team down when 4 easy chances were grounded by simply dismal fielding effort. Haris (4) replaced M. Ahmed and broke through on his second delivery when he deceived Andy (18) with a well disguised slower ball. Next man Rayyan (4) never was a threat to a discipline VPCC bowling, soon to be dismissed by M. Ahmed (1). Haris (4) once again delivered a successful slower ball to claim Rizwan (24). In the middle session all bowlers bowled with great accuracy and misery and kept chipping in with a wicket at regular interval, specially Hassan (2) and veteran Kamran (2), who bowled 3 for 2 runs and claiming 2 wickets. Stallions were all out for mere 101 runs in 28 overs.
Villa Park CC missing Zeyad Imtiaz opened with Haris Imtiaz (34) and Bilal (3). Both batted with patience and determination. Haris looked comfortable in his old spot and hit some glorious boundaries. Bilal (3) was cleaned up by Zaidan (1) in early stages but Hassan (14) with Haris Imtiaz stabilized the innings, but was undone by his temperament when he tried to launch an expensive drive off M. Ateeq (2). In the middle session, VPCC batting stumble to some good bowling from Rayyan Siddiqui (2) and M. Ateeq (2). But Fawad (7*) and Shoaib Khan (14*) completed by chase in 19th over.
Haris Imtiaz was declared man of the match for his all-round performance. Please visit www.villaparkcc.com for video highlights. |
