Pacy Ahmed Bakhshi bulldozed Bright Future batting to snatched a comfortable win for VPCC |
With miserable June behind them, Villa Park faced their nemesis Bright Future. Villa Parks only win against Bright Future was a walkover in 2004. With elimination hanging on their heads VPCC lost the toss and put in to dry and fast field. VPCC new ball pair Ahmed Bakhshi (new vice captain) and M. Ahmed (Lahori) bowled with extreme pace and accuracy. Fahad Aziz (0) was dismissed courtesy to a dazzling catch by new sensation Kamal Mehmood. Next man in for BFCC was Umair Khan (0), who displayed his resilience in last year playoff game against Villa Park, was sent back on a very first ball from Lahori, that pitched on off-stump and swung away, taking the edge of the bat and landing safely in Uzairs reliable gloves. Zeeshan Jamal (15) joined battling Omer Khan (38) and try to rebuild the damage caused by the VPCC pace demons, but not to be, as Lahori knocked the off stump of Zeeshan, and BFCC were struggling 3 for 38. It was quickly 75 for 5 when VPCC lethal weapon Zeyad Imtiaz (2), thumped the stumps of Haris Aziz (4) and Omer Khan (38) in quick succession. As situation was looking gloomy for BFCC, Arif Mehmood (38) and Amir Ansari (40) came out strong and took advantage of the quick out-field, and played some fascinating shots. Run rate was very good for BFCC, and it was looking that they will reach 200 easily. But Uzair gave the ball in hands of Ahmed Bakhshi (5), with Amir Ansari on strike. Amir (40) smashed 2 boundaries off the over, but Ahmed came back strong to knocked his stumps, and on the very next ball he caught Faisal (0) plumb in front to swing the game back in VPCC favor. Haris (1) chipped in with 1 wicket in the next over and Ahmed wrapped the game by taking last 2 wickets, including the prize wicket of Arif Mehmood. BFCC, at one point were 157 for 4, then ran over by Ahmed Bakhshis thunder-bolts to be bundled up for 166 all-out. Villa Park started the season depending chase with prolific pair of Haris (80) and Zeyad (20). Both batsmen had moments of confusion and frustration during running between the wickets, but kept playing the game one ball at a time. Zeeshan Jamal (0) was knocked out of the attack early and VPCC also kept Fahad Aziz (1) at bay. Amir Khan (1) got the first wicket of Zeyad (20) bowled when trying to slog across the line on a straight ball. Hassan Bakhshi (6) was cleaned up around his legs by danger man Haris Aziz (2), who has a history of demolishing Villa Park batting. Bashir Iqbal (27) saw his return to the side after a year, counter attacked the BFCC spin threat, and scored quick 27 before holding out to Fahad and long-on. Uzair (21*) joined Haris Imtiaz (80) who was showing his vintage class, which include 8 eye-catching fours and one gigantic six. Haris was bowled by Fahad (1) with VPCC only requiring 6 runs to win, which Fawad (2*) and Uzair (21*) achieved with out any more hick-ups. This win brought sigh of relieve to VPCC camp, with now day tournament entering in the final phase, every game is a playoff game now. Stay tuned for highlights! |
