Night Tournament: Bashir Iqbal's heroics doomed fighting Badshahs

After loosing the first night game against Windy City, Villa Park didnt know what to expect in new talk of the town COD Badshahs. Villa Park won the toss and elected to field first. Badshahs opened with Ali Uddin and Junaid Uddin. Both batsmen attempted some hard slogs, to upset the VPCC bowlers line and length but did not succeed as Ahmad Bakhshi (2) and Bashir Iqbal (2) both claimed 2 wickets each to make early in-roads in Badshahs batting line-up. Ali Chaudhary and Mujtaba provided some middle order stability to the proceedings, with Saqib and Sabeel also contributing their fair share. Badshah only manage 110 runs in allotted 20 overs.

Villa Park opened the chase with Haris (4) and Zeyad (12), to face the energetic presence of Badshah team. Villa Park top order generally struggled against some accurate bowling and lively fielding. Highlight of the session was a remarkable catch took by Bilal, while running back and stretching full length and even tilting at an angle in the air to hold a catch that is noted as a best catch ever in Night Tournament history. As Villa Park looking desperate for a partnership Bashir Iqbal (38) and Uzair (10) provided the team with some quick scoring. But back-to-back wickets caused some real panic VPCC camp with team skidded to 87 for 5. Arif Hockla (13) who was not in any sort of form at all was left with Fawad Agha to score remaining runs. Both batsmen displayed some fine placing and running between the wickets. As target was looking very achievable all of a sudden another shock wave struck as Badshahs executed back to back run outs to get VPCC 8th wicket out on the crease but VPCC reached the target with out any more jitters.

It was an important win for VPCC to stay in the hunt for night tournament, but all applause was for a rise of a young and talented team in COD Badshahs. Man of the match was awarded to Bashir Iqbal for his match winning performance.
