Cougars are the Night Tournament Champions - King Khan (91) spanked Villa Park to regain the glory

Villa Park versus Cougars 2008 Night Tournament Finale, the setting couldnt be better. After the scenic opening ceremony, Cougars elected to bat after winning the toss. Final was affected a little by possibility of some tiredness as both teams were playing their second game of the day. Rashid (0) and Amjad (29) opened the innings against Haris (2) and A. Bakhshi (0). Haris broke through the defenses of Rashid in the first over, but Manan Syed (11) and Amjad put together a timely second wicket partnership. Uzair rotated the bowlers quickly and Hassan Bakhshi responded the call by taking the second wicket of Manan. This brought the dangerous Waseem Khan (91) to the crease, who looked ever so agile and started to hammer the VPCC mediocre bowling. Bashir Iqbal caught Amjad brilliantly at the boundary to give the opening in to the Cougars batting. Danish Malick (4) did not cause much trouble as he was trapped plump in front by Bashirs well-disguised slower ball. Airaj Syed (22) joined the party with Waseem Khan showing no sign to let off VPCC bowling and dismal fielding. He scores 91 fantastic runs in only 54 balls to help Cougars post season high 193 runs in 20 overs.

Villa Park depending heavily on their big guns Zeyad, Bashir and Uzair to fire, if they are to have any chance of chasing the target. But on a big day VPCC champion batting failed to deliver as Zeyad (1), Bashir (7) and Uzair (4) could contribute much to the VPCC cause. Hariss (26) miserable stay at the crease was not providing any hope to the Villa Park camp. As the day looking gloomier by minute and VPCC reeling 7 for 66 due to some devastating bowling by Prateek and Salman. Arsalan Ali joined Fawad Agha to the crease with some purpose to salvage the respect for VPCC of being the finalist. They both put together a very sensibly partnership and ensure that not only VPCC bats full quota of overs, but also posted respectable total of 145 runs courtesy of some fine hitting and running between the wickets specially by Arsalan who posted his highest score in Night Tournament of 43 runs.

In the end Cougars won the game comfortably with King Khan (Waseem) receiving the well deserving Man of the Final award. Villa Park celebrated the runners up position, hoping to challenge the champs in the day format of the game.
