Brothers of Destruction obliterate Skippers |
Villa Park faced Skippers to make up for their suspended game in May. Villa Park won the toss and decided to use their power willow first against a very unknown team to them. Zeyad Imtiaz (50) tagged with his usually partner in crime Mujtaba Baqir (14) to open the innings. Zeyad started off with his usual flare and dominated Skippers very competent bowlers in the early going. Mujtaba supported Zeyad well to provide another fifty plus runs opening stand for the team. After Mujtaba?s departure, Hassan Bakhshi (6) joined the blazing Zeyad but Hassan?s stay was short today and he missed straight one from impressive Samir Patel (2). Fawad Agha (41*), who has rejuvenated his batting this season, continued his brilliant form by immediately nudging singles and doubles in the gap. But soon after Zeyad was caught in the deep to bring another in-form batsman Haris Imtiaz (79*) to the crease. Skippers tightened the grip on the game here and bowled some excellent wicket-to-wicket bowling to bog down both batsmen in the initial stage of the partnership. But both batsmen hung in there and kept milking some runs to establish the base of this crucial partnership. As over creep up over 20, batmen started to cut loose, especially Haris who dispatched flurry of boundaries in quick succession. Fawad also performed his role in this gigantic partnership of 130 runs, by not only placing the ball in gaps but also dispatching 2 timely 4s. Skippers failed to grab any further wickets and Villa Park scored yet another 200+ runs (209) in allotted overs. Skippers chosen a wrong day to face the Villa Park bowling attack, which was at it?s full force and itching to go at unfamiliar Skippers batting with good reputation so far in the league. Skippers missing their ace Dhaval Patel was still confident of chasing this total posted by VPCC, as Jatin Patel (29) showed his intention by clearing the boundary in the very first over, and went on to score 15 runs in the first over. But Ahmed Bakhshi (4) came back with a bang in the remaining spell sending the stumps for a ride on couple of occasions. Fielding once again let VPCC down as multiple catches were put down early. But bowlers still dominated the proceeding by taking wickets at regular intervals. Zeyad (4) and Ahmed (4) did the major damage and Haris (1) and Fawad (1) supported them well. Skippers at no point looked to threat the target and were bundled out for 110 runs. Zeyad Imtiaz named player of game for his yet another dynamic performance with both bat and ball, he is fast becoming the serious contender to be the best player in the league this season, but again season is only half done and night tournament round the corner.
