Big guns fire for Villa Park (Uzair 55, Zeyad 28 & 4 wickets), as they humbled Stallions to a 82 runs defeat
Villa Park faces Stallions on a relatively quick Glendale Heights 1 on beautiful Sunday morning. VPCC won the toss and with out any hesitation decided to swing the willow against mediocre Stallions bowling. Mujtaba Baqir (26) joined master blaster Zeyad Imtiaz (28) to open for the under performing batting line-up. Both played some powerful and stylish shots to upset the usually steady Andy Dadlani (0) and Sameer Saini (0), both of whom went wicket less. Mohammed Ateeq (3) stuck first for Stallions getting rid of dangerous looking Zeyad Imtiaz. Mujtaba and Najam-us-Saqib (3) soon followed, uniting Uzair Ali (55) and Haris Imtiaz (15) to the center. Haris looked good initially belting couple of boundaries but fell to Suhail Mohiuddin (2), who was at his best today, bowling with pace and accuracy. Abdur Arif (12) also supported Uzair well, who was making up for his under performance in the previous game. Uzair hit some of his trademark flicks and slog sweeps to score his first fifty of the season. Arif Hockla (28) continued the supporting role with some thunderbolts of his own. Both batsmen established 57 run powerful partnership to not only put the game away from Stallions but also gave much-needed boost to the team camp. Arsalan Ali (10*) helped the score to reach 211 runs, which turned out to be the highest of the week. Stallions opened with in-form Samir Siddiqui (16) and Farrukh Khan (9), VPCC attackers bowled with furious pace but lack in control once again, which helped jump-start the Stallions innings. Uzair once again put his trust in Zeyad (4), who delivered with 4 wickets while only conceding 16 runs. None of the Stallions batsmen looked threatening apart from Suhail (15), who hit some meaty boundaries. Haris Imtiaz (2) cleaned up the tail with Mujtaba (2), Fawad (1) and Furqan (1) also chipping in with wickets. Uzair Ali was named man of the match for his very fine captains innings. Villa Park would have no time to celebrate as next clash is against undefeated Bolingbrook Badshahs.
