Sohail Rehmani (3 wkts) & Hassan Bakhshi (52 runs) orchestra a comfortable win for Villa Park against Lions
Villa Park faced winless Lions team on a relatively slow Carol Stream field. Lions won the toss and elected to bat with only 10 available players. Haris Imtiaz (0) opened with Ahmed Bakhshi (0), but neither one of them could break through the Lions batting line-up. Mohsin Bhally (57) got a life early in the innings and settled down quickly after that; his partner Anand Kumar (19) played a perfect second fiddle to a good opening partnership. It was all hard work VPCC bowlers as it turned out to be the day when Uzair ended up trying 9 bowlers none of them could answer the call but Sohail Rehmani (3), as he is fast turning a savior for VPCC bowling slump. Furqan (1) and Arif Hockla (1) supported well in the end, but Lions finished strong scoring their season high 169 runs. Villa Park having some hot bats in their line-up was confident of chasing decent target. VPCC had initial turbulence as almost all the top order batsmen got good starts but no one could convert their start to a big innings except for Hassan Bakhshi (52), who found his form and played a very calculated innings. Uzair (26*) also chipped in with useful runs in the end to close the chase successfully. Karthik Thiyagarajan (1) from Lions bowled his heart out and troubled VPCC batsmen through out his spell. But after all said and done, Villa Park was too good for struggling Lions team. Hassan Bakhshi named player of the match for his brilliant fifty, but worth mentioning here is Sohail Rehmani?s bowling spell that restricted Lions from achieving larger total.
