by Furqan Qureshi Once again on a wet Saturday afternoon an incomplete Villa Park CC (missing Arsalan Ali and Hassan Baqir) found them selves on Bolingbrook ground, but this time against the slick Deccan Blues CC. Deccan Blues won the toss and elected to field first, with the ground being heavy and wet Zeyad Imtiaz (16) & Mujtaba Baqir (21) started the proceedings. Once again Mujtaba Baqir perish after scoring some wuick runs. Hassan Bakhshi (11) who is still struggling with runs this season was playing some excellent strokes and was keep on rotating the strike, when Zeyad Imtiaz departed on the bowling of Mohammed Abdul Hafeez (1). This bought the with 2 wickets down for 56 skipper Uzair Ali (54) walked in to save the game. Uzair built his innings with singles and doubles and was taking runs on almost every delivery, when a straight throw from a fielder hit the stumps and Hassan Bakhshi had to go out. This now with 3 down Villa Park needed someone who can bat through the over and built a strong partnership. Fawad Agha (54) became the man of the day when he performed the required job. Fawad and Uzair started to milk Deccan Blues bowling and didn’t gave a single chance to of the bowlers. Their intentions were to take the score to a respectable total since the total overs were reduced from 30 to 25. Fawad hit 2 back to back sixes to reach his first fifty of the season, he was bowled by Syed Farhan Hashmi (1). Uzair Ali along with Haris Imtiaz (2) & Ahmed Bakhshi (1*) took the score to respectable 197. With a enormous total on the board Villa Park took the field with confident & courage. Haris Imtiaz (1) and Ahmed Bakhshi (2) started the attack. Haris Imtiaz couldn’t find his line and length in this first spell, while on the other end Ahmed Bakhshi struck timber when he bowled Fazale Haq (1) and then caught Syed Asgar (13) in slips when Haris Imtiaz took a hasty catch. Now with rain coming down and a the bowling run-up getting dangerous for fast bowlers, Uzair Ali called the ever reliable Furqan Qureshi (3) who right away got rid of Jamsheed Khan (2) and Ayush Singh (0) on two consecutive deliveries. This broke the back bone of Deccan Blues since they were 46 for 4 but they had some hope since their inform batsman Khaled Mohammed (29) was still at crease. Fawad Agha (1) who already showed magic with bat now came with a ball in his hand and got rid of the dangerous Khaled Mohammed and from the other end Furqan Qureshi took his third victim Syed Akbar (7). In the middle of the innings rain started to come down and the players had to leave the field. Game was resumed after a long and hard inspection of the pitch and the ground by the umpire. Now with the tail exposed Zeyad Imtiaz (1), Haris Imtiaz and Mujtaba Baqir (1) finished the innings in style. Deccan Blues were all out for 98 runs in 19.3 overs, Fawad Agha was announced Man of the Match for his 50 in 37 balls and 1 wicket. |
