Villa Park uncrowned the Badshahs in a high scoring contest; Zeyad Imtiaz (51 runs & 1 wkt) named MOM |
By Haris Imtiaz Villa Park faced ever-energetic Badshahs on a very hot day but the field was very wet due to over night storm that hit the city of Chicago pretty hard. VPCC tested their new opening pair of Fawad Agha and Zeyad Imtiaz, and boy did the decision by ever-ahead skipper Uzair paid the dividend. Both openers squeezed the grip on the game from the get go. It was really hard to determine who was the dominant partner out there. Fawad Agha (58) matched Zeyad Imtiaz (51) shot for shot. Badshahs were mere spectators and ball flew over the boundary on numerous occasions. None of the bowlers ever threatened to take any wickets until Abdur Rehman (1) broke through Zeyad defenses with score of 109 runs. Hassan Bakhshi (10) joined Fawad who accelerated even more to reach his fifty and pushed to score close to hundred and fifty. But there is no relaxation in VPCC’s fate as collapse bug hit Villa Park batting again as they stumble to 146 for 4 wickets in quick succession. Uzair (18) joined in by Arif Hockla (46) not only revived the innings but Arif played one of his better knocks to ensure the massive 224 runs for VPCC at the end of the 30 overs. Badshahs chose the wrong day to chase 224 against VPCC as Haris Imtiaz (3) and Ahmad Bakhshi (1) were on top of their game, as both bowlers bowled with pace and accuracy to have Badshah struggling at 65 for 5. But VPCC fielding was probably at their worse not supporting a bit at several chances went begging but in all this chaos couple of breath taking catches were plucked special one by Uzair as he ran about 45 yards straight back and caught diving full stretch. Badshahs were bundled out for 186 with Abdur Rehman taking full advantage of multiple chances and scores game high 66 runs. Zeyad Imtiaz (51 runs & 1 wkt) named man of the match for his brilliant all-round performance. |
